The 1978 Indy 500 Pace Car marked the first time a Corvette was chosen as the pace car for the Indy 500, and happened to be the 25th anniversary of the Corvette. This extremely well-cared for Corvette was purchased by its second owner in 1981 and has remained in the family since then. Powered by its original (numbers-matching) L82 350 CID small block engine, backed by its original TH350 3-speed automatic, this car's odometer is showing what the owner states to be 9258 original miles. The L82 was the performance-oriented choice over the L48 option, and in 1978 was putting out 220HP (vs 185HP for the L48).
