As most Corvette aficionados are aware, 1972 was the last year for front and rear chrome bumpers, and saw the beginning of the use of SAE 'net power' ratings, which meant that power was rated with all engine accessories in place. This particular Corvette has the 200HP L48 4BBL engine; which, when converted back to gross HP (like a 1971 rating would have used), would have been approximately 270HP. Backing the potent V8 is a GM TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. This 1972 Corvette is believed to be a numbers-matching car (not fully verified, but the block stamping pad's numbers correctly match the VIN, and don't appear to be a re-stamp). One of the few non-factory elements on this car is a large Griffin aluminum radiator, which goes a long way to improve the engine cooling vs. the OEM radiator. The car also appears to be in its original Targa Blue color (code 979), which in the right lighting, has such depth that it presents elements of having a purplish hue. Very attractive, indeed!
