Other defining features exclusive to the ZR1 includes a wider stance with 11- wheels tucked into the wheel wells, squared off taillights, better brakes, better steering, and one of the most important is the LT5 sitting under the hood. In a partnership with Lotus, Chevrolet was able to produce this power house of an engine. In 2002 Chevrolet made some very technical improvements to the Z06. Z06s had thinner windshields for weight savings, had less back pressure for the exhaust system, the camshaft had added lift and was the highest lift ever for a production small block Chevrolet, valve springs were also addressed.
