This car is far from your run of the mill '63 Corvette as nearly every part has been customized in some way. This Corvette has been smoothed, molded, and de-cluttered in every way to give a sleek and slippery look unlike any Vette on the road. The front end is extremely customized as the bumper, lights, and grill have been removed and replaced with the turn signal bar from a '57 Chevy. Poking through the hood is a set of dual quads, mounted to a tunnel ram intake which feeds a 350 CID V8 power plant. The engine exhales through a set of 4' side pipes that are header wrapped to avoid burnt legs. The transmission is a 4 speed manual with a Hurst vertical gate shifter. Adding to the uniqueness is the fact that the convertible top and all of its components have been completely removed. Only 4,473 produced with a 454 CID big block V8 LS5 and Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Original air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, power brakes, power steering makes driving this beauty very comfortable. In 1986, GM acquired Group Lotus. They went after the title of world's fastest production car based on the C4 Corvette. With input from GM, Lotus designed a new engine to fit in the ZR1. The result was what GM dubbed the LT5, a 5. 7L V8 engine putting out 375hp. This engine, with only 5,192 actual original miles, is mated to the original 6-speed manual transmission that is a thrill to drive. In addition to the engine, Lotus also helped design the upgraded braking and steering systems used in the ZR1. The ZR1, being 200 lbs. heavier than a stock C4, needed better braking and handling. In 1990, the 1991 ZR1 and 1991 base model received updates to bodywork, interior, and wheels. The rear convex fascia that set the 1990 ZR1 apart from the base model found its way to all 1991 models, making the high-priced ZR1 even less distinguishable. This Corvette started life as a 1978 Corvette Pace Car. There are very few traces of that car remaining today. The outside is finished in Meadow Green Metallic. The interior is Black and in excellent condition. The engine is a 355 CI V8 with a 671 BDS Blower and Hilbourne Fuel injection. The engine was built by Lorenzos Fast Flow Cylinders and was putting out over 600 HP before the fuel injection was added. A Turbo 400 automatic transmission with reverse manual valve body, trans brake and line lock transfers the power to a 9 in Ford rear with 4:33 gears and a nodular center section.
