The Jeep Wagoneer is a luxury 4x4 produced and marketed under Jeep under successive automakers from 1962 to 1991. The 1989-1991 model years are considered the top of the breed due to several upgrades. These include upgraded wood siding and modernized aluminum alloy wheels that lost their gold-colored inlays in favor of gunmetal grey metallic. Chrysler also introduced an electrocoat primer for better rust proofing and all exterior colors were now applied in a two-stage base-clearcoat system. With Chrysler purchasing AMC in 1987, the 1988 models essentially a match for their predecessors outside of a newly available sunroof, and keyless entry, an overhead console with map lights, and a rear wiper becoming minor additions to the equipment list in 1989.
