Few cars in history are as easily identifiable and loved like the El Camino. Over the 25 model years and 5 generations, Chevy's half truck, half car has proven to be a classic from its early days when it debuted in 1959. The El Camino was created in direct competition to Ford's Ranchero that hit the streets in 1957. When the El Camino first came into the market it was built on the Chevrolet X-frame and shared the same engine options and styling as the other big Chevy cars at the time like the Impala and Biscayne.
