By 1973 Chevrolet was in it's fourth year of producing the C3 Corvette design and still featured the iconic chrome rear bumper and those super cool flip up headlights. The removable T-tops allowed for some fun in the sun and was the perfect way to usher in the excitement and bold new style of the 1970's. This car has been meticulously maintained and is in remarkable condition for being 44 years old.

This particular 'Vette has a very nice history. In 1990 this was purchased by the current owner's wife for him as a Father's Day present and has been lovingly cared for ever since. After purchase the paint was refreshed and throughout the past 26 years every measure was taken to ensure that this vehicle stayed in a fine roadworthy state. One look at this Corvette and you will see the tasteful upgrades that set it apart from your garden variety late 70's Corvette. The custom aluminum/alloy wheels create an awesome stance and overall look for the car. Look a little closer and you notice all four rotors are drilled and slotted for better performance, and let's be honest, a much cooler look. Under the hood you find this 79' Corvette is outfitted with a gear driven 406 CID small block V8 engine that features a mild cam, new heads, and a 7 quart oil pan. Approximately 3,000 miles has been put on this engine since it was rebuilt. Recent work includes a new water pump, starter, and alternator. An oversized radiator with 2 electric cooling fans has been employed to keep the 406 V8 cool, while a 200R4 automatic transmission with overdrive and a shift kit transfers the power to the pavement. The 1978 Indy 500 Pace car was also the 25th anniversary of the Corvette, this example features an L48 350CI small block chevy with a Rochester 4-Barrel Carburetor producing 185Hp at 4000rpm from the factory with 8:2:1 compression. This vehicle was assembled in the St Louis, Mo with production number 6,202 of 6,502. This vehicle is nearly all original with exception to the water pump, weather stripping, cat back exhaust , and tires. The current tires are OEM style, with plenty of life and give it the period correct look. This is one of only 1,000 built in 1996 and was the first year of the Grand Sport since the Grand Sports of 1963. Some would say this is the first Grand Sport production car ever as the '63s were constructed for prototype racing only and not sold to the general public. The year is 1996 and the Corvette has said goodbye to the ZR1 that was produced from 1990 to 1995. The replacement Grand Sport is powered by the less complex LT4 V8 and backed by a 6-speed manual transmission. Chevy underrated the LT4 at 330 horsepower in an effort to not overshadow the new LS1 engine debuting the next year for the C5 Corvette. True power for the LT4 was much closer to 380 horsepower and the new LS1 at 345. The Grand Sport was only available in a unique Admiral Blue and white color scheme with red hash marks painted onto the driver's front fender.
