Tucked under that long bonnet is the original numbers matching 4.2 Liter dual overhead cam inline six cylinder that was an upgrade from the previous 3.8 and mated to the original 4 speed manual transmission. The 4.2-litre engine produced the same power as the 3.8-litre 265 bhp and same top speed at 150 mph, but increased torque approximately 10% from 240 to 283 lb ft. Acceleration remained pretty much the same and 0 to 60 mph times were around 6.4 seconds for both engines, but maximum power was now reached at 5,400 rpm instead of 5,500 rpm on the 3.8-litre. This meant better throttle response for drivers that did not want to shift down gears. One notable feature about this engine set up is the 3 separate 2 inch Side Draft SU Carburetors. This E Type for sale has been cared for lovingly and it shows everywhere. The interior is crisp, gauges are easy to read with faces that are bright and the glass clean.
