Ford produced the Elite model from 1974-1976. Built exclusively as a two-door personal luxury car in the Torino line-up. Marketed as a competitor in the midsized segment to compete with such models as the Grand Prix, Cutlass, and Cordoba rivals. By 1977 Ford repositioned an all-new smaller version of the Thunderbird and discontinued the Elite as they would have been competing against each other in the ever-growing mid-sized luxury market.
