For those who might be unaware, the Ford SVT Lightning is a high-performance version of the F150, which Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) put their magic touch on. Intended as a competitor for the Chevrolet 454SS, the SVT Lightning received extensive modifications to the front and rear suspension and frame, as well as a serious power bump over mere mortal F-150s. After a brief hiatus, Ford released its second generation of the SVT Lightning for the 1999 model year. This new generation was powered by a supercharged version of Ford's potent 5. 4L V8 that produced 360 hp and was mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission from the F150. The truck was factory-equipped with SVT-tuned dampers and springs as well as front and rear stabilizer bars. Stopping power is provided by power four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes.
