Up for sale in our Tampa Showroom is this beautiful 1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible. One of the first Mustangs off the line, these were built with several rare options that were discontinued during their first year of production in 1965. This one was built with a particularly rare F Code engine, defining the 260 Cubic Inch engine, capable of 164 horsepower and 258 lb/ft of torque. This is the only build generation that used this engine, and was later dropped in 1965 to use the now famous 289 engine. The transmission is a C4 Automatic 3-speed, which has always been a very popular option in the early Mustangs. After Iacocca trashed the initial T-5 project in 1962, They had to come up with a practical means of transportation in a rapidly growing market. Iacocca's answer to this problem spawned one of the most famous cars in American history, the Mustang. This car comes in a stunning Rangoon Red, which looks brilliant in contrast to the White automatic convertible top. To top off the classic styling is the red and white vinyl seating, embossed with special Pony logo's on all four seats. The radio has been replaced with a custom tape deck with AM/FM radio as well, to supply a slightly more modern approach to music listening. Listen to the throaty exhaust as you turn the key on, watch as it makes your neighbors envious as you hit the throttle. Kick back and drop the top, put the car in drive and get ready for a truly comfortable, yet sport ride down the highway. Options include AC, AM/FM Radio, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Vinyl Interior, Automatic Convertible Top, Radial Tires, Rally Wheels and a Numbers Matching Engine.
