Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is pleased to offer this sharp 1967 Mercury Cougar. Being the first year that the Cougar was produced, and this example is the high performance XR7 version, it is definitely a collector's item. Although the name is iconic in Ford folklore, the introduction of the Cougar in 1967 was simply intended to give the Mercury division its own version of the Pony Car. In the early years ('67 and '68) only a 2-door hardtop body-style was offered and ours comes in just that form. The black cherry exterior paintjob with gold pin striping is coupled with a black vinyl top and black vinyl sport bucket seats. This first year Mercury Cougar still has its original numbers matching 289 V8 engine and C4 3-speed automatic transmission. The whole drive train was rebuilt about 1,000 miles ago and is turnkey and ready to roll. This 1967 Mercury Cougar looks and sounds fantastic. Options include; air conditioning, AM/FM radio, power brakes, power steering, seat belts, vinyl interior, rally wheels with raised white letter radial tires, and even a spare tire. This is a beautiful car and it is ready to find a new home after spending many years with the current owner.
