Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this unique 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1. This car not only has the famous first-generation Mach 1 351 Cleveland V8 engine, but it is literally bulletproof. I do not mean that as terminology, but this car's cockpit is equipped with a clandestine NIJ level 3a ballistic protection package. If you want to be like John Wick and be able to look awesome but also feel protected, finally the car has arrived. This armor will protect against a .44 Magnum, Semi Hollow Point bullets and 9mm full metal jacket bullets with nominal masses of 15.55 g impacting at a velocity of 1,400 ft per second or less. It also provides against most handgun threats as well as level I, IIA, and II threats. The windows and glass are not rated to stop projectiles. The Ballistic package present in the vehicle is meant to be hidden so protection cannot be observed.
Before the armored feature, this Mach 1 has all the style to be a bad to the bone car. The Mach 1 started with a V8-powered 'Sportsroof' body and added numerous visual and performance enhancing items such as matte black hood treatment with hood pins, hood scoop (including optional Shaker scoop), competition suspension, chrome pop-open gas cap, revised wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tires, chrome exhaust tips (except 351W 2V), deluxe interior, livery and dealer optional chin spoiler, rear deck spoiler, and rear window louvers. The Mach 1 was only available in the 'SportsRoof' body style (previously known as the 'Fastback'); never on the hardtop or convertible.
Standard equipment was a 351 cu in (5.8 L) Windsor (351W) 2V motor with a 3 speed manual transmission, and a 9-inch open rear axle. This car kept is 351 Cleveland but has an upgraded racing Cam and has an automatic transmission. Many other features have been added like new leather interior, custom painted interior parts to match the exterior, a reverse camera, Sound insulation package, new front disc brakes, new LED lights in the dash, and even a working 8 track player. Mechanically the tires and rims are new, the hoses, shocks and bushings, all drive train seals, front end steering system, and also an electric carburetor was installed. This is one sweet car, do not let it pass you by!
