The engines were conservatively rated at 360 horsepower making these some of the fastest thunderbirds produced to date despite their increased size and luxury.
For the 5th generation thunderbird, Ford decided to give them a larger platform and start moving them closer to Lincoln as the company chose to emphasize the “luxury" aspect of these cars. The interior shows just that, a spacious and plush cabin that you would find in some of the most sought after luxury cruisers of its time. With options such as air conditioning, power seats, power windows, power steering, and power brakes. Suicide rear doors would go on to compliment this and make it so the passengers could easily get in and out of the back seats.
