1967 Ford Mustang

Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to present this 1967 Ford Mustang TA Tribute! Inspiration for this car comes from the Trans Am Racing Series - this specific car is a tribute to the 1967 Group II Championship winner.

All of the racing livery comes off with a bit of patience and a heat gun. The panels are all said to be original along with the interior. The one exception being new carpet. The car was painted once in its life and sat for 20+ years prior to being built to what you see in 2008. The early years were spent primarily in the south and luckily the car received undercoating early on in life which preserved almost the entire car.

In 2015 the engine was upgraded to a 302 High Output Roller Block which Ford used in multiple production vehicles from 85-95. Most notably this engine was used the Fox Body Mustang GT. After acquiring the engine, it was tore down and rebuilt. During the rebuild the engine was bored .30 over bringing the displacement to 306 CID. The engine was fitted with flat-top eyebrow pistons, FRP B303 roller cam, and Pertronix electronic ignition tucked away in an original Auto-Lite distributor housing. The 351 Windsor heads bolt right up to the 302-short block. Between the higher flowing heads, the Blue Thunder Cobra intake, and Hedman headers this pony breathes! True to its racing inspiration the car has side exit exhaust you saw all the Mustangs run back in the day. Most notably Carol Shelby's cars ran this style of exhaust. The transmission is a wide-ratio top-loader 4 speed paired up to a 3.40 rear differential. While not intended for the highway the car is geared to run on the interstate should one desire to do so.

For suspension goodies the vehicle has Monroe gas shocks, GT front springs, 1-inch sway bar, and Midolyne bushings. The car corners incredibly flat for a solid axle vehicle. As it sits it is a perfectly enjoyable vehicle to drive and eagerly waits for the next owner to simple enjoy it, or take it to the next level!
