For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1972 Chevrolet Corvette. Originally this eye catching Corvette was painted Sun Flower Yellow and is now 1993 Ruby Red. We've never come across an early C3 painted in Ruby Red, but we love it! The paint has a great shine and is obvious that it was professionally sprayed. Power comes from a built 355 and is backed by a Muncie 4-speed. Originally the car was believed to have been a 454. As with most cars from this era, the engine is long gone. There is 1,500 miles since the engine and transmission were both rebuilt offering many years and miles of fun. Out back is a set of 3.55:1 gears with posi-traction. 3.55s may be the best ratio out there offering the best of both worlds. Great power off of the line yet still able to cruise the highway with comfort. Equipment consist of Power steering, AM/FM radio with cassette, Leather seats and T-Tops. The interior is new, as are the tires, exhaust, chrome and rubber. The engine benefits from Fuelie cylinder heads, Competition Cams hydraulic camshaft, 10.5:1 compression ratio, new Holley 650 and a new Edelbrock Perfomer intake manifold. 1972 was the last year that chrome bumpers adorned both the front and rear and was the end of an era.
