Vinyl InteriorFor sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette. 1958 saw a lot of changes for the Corvette. 1958 introduced dual headlights, louvered hood and twin chrome strips going down the trunk lid. The louvered hood and twin strips down the trunk are only fitted to the 1958s making them easier to spot. This one is painted in a traditional Signet Red with a matching red cove, hard top and red vinyl interior. Top up or down, this Corvette looks stunning. The painted hardtop gives the car a coupe appearance and the white vinyl soft top allows for protection when the rain clouds come out. Adding some flare to the Corvette is a set of American Racing Chrome wheels shod is radial rubber for a better ride. Power comes from a 283 with an aftermarket dual quad set up. Shifting is how it should be via T-10 manual four-speed and 3.55:1 rear gears with posi-traction. The 283 small block was professionally rebuilt in 2009 and has covered a modest 5,140 miles. The 283 is date coded October 1957, the Hard top is dated September 1957. This '58 Corvette was the 81st 1958 to roll off the assembly line in St. Louis, MO. Changes in 1958 resulted in a spike in sales. In 1957 Chevrolet sold 6,339 Corvettes and in 1958, sales increased to 9,168.
