T-TopsFor sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Indianapolis Pace Car. This one was just repainted the original unmistakable color scheme of black over silver over a silver leather interior. Powering this original Pace Car is the numbers matching L82 350 V8. The L82 was rated at 220 horsepower vs. the standard L48 that was rated at 185 horsepower, unless you lived in California and then you only got 175 horsepower. This one has been tastefully upgraded with an Edelbrock chrome intake manifold, ZZ4 heads, mild camshaft, Holley 650 and coated long tube headers to let the engine breath more fuel and air and exhaust the burnt fuel and air at a faster rate. Inside is the original Silver interior that looks good only on this car. I can't think of any other cars equipped with silver leather, but the Corvette pulled it off and did it very well. Usual equipment consisting of Mirrored T-Tops, tilt wheel, power windows, power locks, AM/FM radio with cassette and full instrumentation. If you are considering one of these Pace Cars, you should certainly consider one with an L82 engine and why not one with a few upgrades to the engine. This is an enjoyable investment and with only 6,502 produced, they sure to hold their value if not appreciate over time.
