Available at the time in just Polo white, and with a rather modest Blue Flame 6 cylinder engine, the Corvette saw many improvements over the years. The Corvette received many face lifts and thousands of performance improvements from that first '53. To commemorate the name, the improvements, and 50 years of an American Icon, Chevrolet released 7,547 50th Anniversary Edition cars in 2003. This special edition carried a $5,000 premium over the standard cars. The special edition received Anniversary Red Metallic paint on the exterior, and shale leather upholstery inside with "50th Anniversary" embroidering. Of course the car comes standard with the gem of the C5 Corvette: the LS1 V8 under the hood. This example backs it with the optional 4 speed automatic transmission which smoothly delivers all 350 horsepower to the ground via the rear wheels. The car features the Anniversary edition specific aluminum wheels and some healthy run flat low profile tires. Of course this one is loaded with A/C, CD Player, Convertible Top, Cruise Control, Lumbar Support, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Locks, Power Seats, Power Windows, Anti-Lock Brakes, Telescopic Wheel, Tilt Wheel, Traction Control, Magnetic Ride Control, Seat Belts, Driver's Airbag, Passenger Airbag, Anti-Theft System, Leather Interior, Aluminum Wheels and the 50th Anniversary Edition Package. This particular example has been extremely well cared for and hardly driven. Since new this one has racked up only 9,273 miles! Clearly this car was not a daily driver.
