For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a beautiful purple 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. Finished in a deeper, more rich purple than the famous plum crazy purple, this Road Runner looks almost blue in the right light. Options for this 1970 Plymouth Road Runner include: Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio with CD Player, Power Steering, Seat Belts (Front Seat Only), Vinyl Interior, and Raised White Letter Radial Tires. Almost everything on this Road Runner is new or rebuilt due to the pain staking restoration that was recently complete. Less than 1,000 miles have been put on the car since the restoration, the odometer reads 43,007, but the actual mileage is not known. Believed to be a 3 owner car, this Road Runner features the original 383 CID V8 engine and 727 automatic transmission. The 8 3/4 rear end sports 3.55 gears. Headman Headers flow from the 383 V8 and support an awesome muscle car sound out back. The power steering makes driving this long classic 2 door easy in tight spaces, like mall parking lots. All the components of the air conditioning have been rebuilt, and should only need a freon charge to blow cold once again. The Road Runner was a performance based car produced by Plymouth from 1968 to 1980. Its initial concept was to take the muscle car back to its basic form, a cheap car with a big motor and a quarter mile time under seconds. Which by the way the Road Runner came through on all accounts. Consequently the Road Runner outsold the heavily optioned, more expensive GTX , the back to basics idea worked. Plymouth did pay Warner Bros. $50,000 for permission to use the name and likeness of their popular cartoon character Road Runner, and even shelled out $10,000 to develop the "beep beep" horn. One walk around this Road Runner and you will quickly appreciate the quality and attention to detail that went into the restoration of this 1970 classic muscle car.
