For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad. This Nomad was built to cruise in both style and comfort. Aiding the comfortable ride starts with a Flaming River front suspension that includes power rack and pinion steering with tubular upper and lower control arms. Further refinement includes an overdrive automatic transmission, A/C by Vintage Heat and Air, power front disc brakes and a set of new gauges by Classic Instruments providing a clear view of the engine's vitals. The rest of the interior is finished with GM bucket seats that have been recovered and also feature new foam. A nice center console compliments the bucket seats, new carpet and interior lights are also included. Most of the stainless trim has been cleaned up and polished, the dash and the rest of the interior painted to match the body and features a smooth finish similar to the exterior. Powering this rare '55 is a 350 cubic inch small block backed by a 700R4 automatic transmission with overdrive. The rear end is a beefy Ford 9". This eye catching Nomad is sure to grab attention where ever it goes. It's easy to see why the Nomad is in high demand and especially a '55. 1955 was a big year for Chevrolet. It was Chevrolet's first year for the V8 and the Nomad. Originally the Nomad was going to be based off of the Corvette and later redirected towards the more familiar Bel Air line up. To help separate it from the traditional station wagon, Chevrolet's styling was closer to a hardtop design for a more sporty look. This 1955 Bel Air Nomad still retains the original look with some tasteful upgrades. To learn more about this classic cruiser, call 618-271-3000 or stop by our St. Louis showroom.
