Vinyl InteriorFor sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1971 Chevrolet Corvette. Painted in an eye catching Black over Red vinyl interior. This well optioned Stingray is equipped with Tilt and a telescoping steering column, Power brakes, Power steering, A/C and T-Tops with pop out rear glass. Recent work for this Corvette include rebuilding all four brake calipers with stainless inserts, new under hood wiring harness, new headlight switch, rebuilt wiper motor, rebuilt A/C compressor, all new belts and hoses and a GM crate engine with only 2,100 miles. Backing up the power plant is a TH-400 automatic transmission. The Vette is riding on a set of 15x8 Rally wheels and Good Year GT 4 radials with raised white lettering. 1969 was the last year that Black was available as a color choice until 1977. But it sure looks good! Originally the car was Steel Cities Gray with black interior. 1971 was the last year for rating the horsepower as gross vs. net horsepower. This meant when the power was rated as gross, it was without any accessories on the engine. In 1972 they rated it as net horsepower which included all accessories such as a water pump, alternator, smog pump etc. Most buyers thought that the '72 model year was down on power when in all actuality it was close to the same as the '71 model year. Originally this Corvette was equipped with a 350 cubic inch V8 producing 270 horsepower. Now powered by a GM crate engine.
