Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale never ceases to jump at the opportunity to represent a rare car. In this case we are pleased to offer, on consignment, this 1983 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 modified by a company called Auto Form out of Indiana. They were awarded a contract to perform the conversion of a 4 seater Z28 or Firebird to a 2 seater convertible where the top hides under a large tonneau cover. The car was drop shipped to Auto Form, built and then delivered to the new owner at the dealership they purchased the car from. This was a $5500 option back in 1983 and was offered through 1986. It is reported that less than 1000 conversions were performed on Firebirds and Camaros over those 3 years. This example shows 35,439 miles on the odometer which are claimed to be actual. The exterior is finished in white with red and silver accents over charcoal cloth interior. Power comes from a 305 cubic inch V8 equipped with Cross-Fire Injection and mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The intake flaps on the hood open electronically which is a pretty cool feature you don’t see. This vehicle is equipped with power mirrors, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, manual top and a CD player. If you want to relive your young, carefree days as a teenager in the 80’s only with less volume in your hair and the same taste in music, then this is your car!
