Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this 1963 Dodge Polara Convertible. The Dodge Polara is an automobile introduced in the United States for the 1960 model year as Dodge's top-of-the-line full-size car available as a sedan, hardtop coupe, hardtop sedan, and convertible. The sedan was approximately $300 more than the 330 Series and approximately $150 more than the 440 Series. It added back-up lights, additional exterior moldings, a power top on the convertible, and custom interior and upholstery trim. In its various forms, the Polara name was used by Dodge until 1973, when its position in Dodge's line-up was replaced by the Monaco. The name Polara is a reference to the Polaris star, in a marketing attempt to appeal to the excitement surrounding the Space Race during the early 1960s. As you walk around the vehicle, you will notice nice details like the bold brightwork of the front end and down the side, the dual exhaust, and the whitewall 205/75r14 tires. This car exudes a real presence! Take a seat inside and you are greeted by a seriously sporty interior via the red vinyl seats that are accented by silver racing stripes. A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer and factory auxiliary gauges that include a fuel gauge, water temperature and battery charge. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, although the true mileage is unknown. These are gaining ground in today's collector car market & the pure joy of driving top-down in a 60's classic will never get tiring!
