Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is happy to offer this 1968 Ford Mustang coupe. The Ford Mustang is the longest-surviving breed of classic American pony car-and the generation that started the line has aged well. The inline-six cylinder engine with a Holley carburetor in the '68 is mated to a 3-speed automatic makes it a pleasure to drive. It generates plenty of torquey power yet runs smooth and can be tuned to get decent fuel economy. Cornering is a thrill, instead of going nose-down into a turn like the V-8-powered brute, the nimble six-cylinder Mustang hugs the curves like they're old friends. Changes for the 1968 model increased safety with a two-spoke energy-absorbing steering wheel, along with newly introduced shoulder belts. Other changes included front and rear side markers, "FORD" lettering removed from the hood, rearview mirror moved from frame to windshield. The front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in two-tone green upholstery, with coordinated door panels, carpeting, and trim. The 14" black painted wheels with chrome center caps are wrapped in a whitewall 195/75s radial tires on all four corners. Under the hood is well organized featuring a painted blue block with a green valve cover that matches the interior. A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer and additional auxiliary gauges that include the oil-pressure, battery charge, fuel level and coolant temperature The five-digit odometer shows 64k miles. If you are looking for a driver quality 1st generation Mustang coupe, this '68 could be the example for you.
