Vinyl InteriorGateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is excited to present this 1963 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk Restomod, painted in Corvette Bright Yellow! The Gran Turismo Hawk, also known as the GT Hawk, was introduced for the 1962 model year, and was only offered in an updated coupe body style. Studebaker closed its South Bend factory in late 1963 and the 1964 model year was the last year the Gran Turismo Hawk would be built. By the end of final production, a grand total of only 15,736 examples of these had been built, adding to the exclusivity of these GT Hawks! Initially, the GT Hawk was only available with a 4.7L V8 engine offered in two states of tune, but this example takes it just a little further, being powered by a 350 CID Chevrolet V8 (from Summit Racing) that was installed in 2017 is teamed up to a TH350 automatic transmission. The build on this GT started back in 2016 when it was purchased out of Reno, NV & seems to have spent the majority of its life in either CA or Nevada, before coming to Texas. (In fact, we have a file full of invoices & receipts dating back as early as 2003 that will transfer along with the Hawk). Along with the small block Chevy transplant, there are a number of additional items that have added to the overall appeal & drivability of this Studebaker, such as Hooker headers, some 9" front disc brakes, a new A/C system installed in 2022, a super nice sounding Magnaflow exhaust and the American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with B.F. Goodrich rubber to name a few. If you are looking for a classic that is seldom seen, but still want some of the hot rod performance , then this 1963 Studebaker GT Hawk should fit that bill nicely!
