Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is pleased to present this 1968 Pontiac Firebird, finished in a gorgeous Autumn Bronze. The Firebird and Camaro launched the same year and were instant hits. They were widely applauded and offered a nice alternative competitor like the Mustang- which had a 3-year head start in the Pony-Car market. And although Firebird and Camaro shared the same F-body platform, Pontiac managed through the year to offer a very distinctive look over its GM cousin. Tucked between the front fenders is a 350CID V-8 with upgrades like an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, an Edelbrock carburetor, dual exhaust and mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. The 15" chrome Cragar "Super Sport " wheels wrapped in 235/60 B.F.Goodrich radial tires helping put the power to the ground. The cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl, joined by color-coordinated door panels, dash pad, headliner, and carpets. Interior amenities include cold blowing Vintage air conditioning, power steering and power brakes, a Sony Bluetooth radio and some nice woodgrain dashboard trim that flows into the center console. A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge with gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature and battery voltage sit below the dash and the iconic hood-mounted 8k-rpm tach! This is a classic V-8 Firebird with a classy and original-style presentation. So, if you want to be both vintage and distinct, these 1st generation Firebirds are worthy of a second look!
