The 1981 model year was the first for production at the Bowling Green, Kentucky plant. There were no engine options for the Corvette that year. The exterior styling was a carryover from the previous year with only minor changes to a couple emblems. Chevrolets computer command control previously used in California became standard equipment. This was the first year a power drivers seat was available in Corvette and this one has it. The factory anti-theft system was upgraded in 1981 to include an ignition interrupt to prevent engine start. The Corvette carries the torch as Americas only true sports car and the 1981 keeps the torch lit with driving excitement around every curve.
