Traction ControlFor sale in our Orlando showroom is a 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. In early 2002 the 03 model year Cobra was introduced and was one of the highest performing pony cars available. With no competition available from Dodge or Chevy the new SVT Cobra was in a league of its own and was dubbed the “Terminator†by lead developer John Coletti. Going from the previous model years 320hp up to a staggering 390hp, quite a few changes had to be made to the engine and drive train to handle this massive power increase. Starting at the top of the motor the 4.6l block was changed from aluminum to cast iron to handle the added stress of the Eaton M112 super charger. The internals were modified as well including forged pistons and H beam connecting rods that could handle the 8psi of boost. At the rear of the engine Ford fitted this beast with an aluminum flywheel and mated it to a Tremec T56 6 speed transmission that feeds into a 3.55:1 rear end. All of these components add up to some serious numbers, with a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds and quarter mile times of mid 12’s these snakes definitely packed a mean bite. Coming in with just 22k miles on the odometer our 2003 convertible SVT Cobra is just starting out life and has led a pampered existence. Tasteful modifications have been made to this snake including custom wheels. The leather interior still shows up like new and power drivers seat works without flaws. The convertible SVT Cobra is a rare one indeed with production numbers only reaching 5,082 these Cobras are definitely in future collectible realm.
