Gateway Classic Cars of Orlando is proud to present this Classic Unrestored 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 429 Super Cobra Jet. With only a little over 37,000 miles on the odometer, this unrestored 1971 Mach 1 is one of the best-preserved examples of the last of the big-block Mustangs. Better yet, this Bright Red Sports Roof car is equipped with the 429 Super Cobra Jet with functional Ram Air, 4-speed manual transmission and 4.11:1 gearing with Detroit Locker differential. Ford Mustang performance fans, it didn't get any better in 1971. A one-year-only option for the Mustang, the 429 Cobra Jet replaced the previous FE-series 428 Cobra Jet. Based on Ford's new 385-series big-block, the new Cobra Jet was rated at 370 HP thanks to larger ports and valves in the new canted-valve heads, 760 CFM Rochester 4-barrel carburetor and 11.3:1 compression. In Ram Air configuration, NACA-style hood scoops fed cooler outside air into the air cleaner. When ordered with the Drag Pack option, the 429 Cobra Jet was transformed into a Super Cobra Jet. The package was based on a choice of a 3.91:1 Traction-Lok or 4.11:1 Detroit Locker differential for improved acceleration, but it also upgraded the big-block engine with a solid-lifter cam and 780 CFM Holley 4-barrel, improving horsepower to 375; it also added bottom-end durability enhancements like cap-screw connecting rods and a modified crankshaft. With Ram Air, the Super Cobra Jet-powered Mach 1 was the ultimate big-block performance Mustang for 1971. Bright Red with a Vermillion interior doesn't hurt either.

This Super Cobra Jet Mach 1 is one of the very few left in unrestored condition, right down to the original paint, interior, engine, transmission, and rear end. The low-mileage example also retains the original smog system, dual-point distributor and hard-to-find “YA" carburetor.

Featured in the May 2003 issue of "Mustang and Fords" magazine, this 4-speed Mach 1 is one of only 531 Super Cobra Jet Drag Pack Fastbacks produced.

Highlights of this classic Mustang include: One of 531 Drag Pack Super Cobra Jet Mustangs produced in 1971,Original 429/375 HP engine, Original smog system and dual point distributor, Original close-ratio 4-speed transmission, Original 4.11 Detroit Locker rear axle, Power steering, Power brakes with front discs, Mostly original Bright Red paint, Vermillion Clarion-knit interior, Bucket seats and center console, Pushbutton AM radio, Tinted glass, Magnum 500 wheels, Full Marti Report Deluxe.
