The engine was installed in 2008 but the restoration of this iconic Chevy began in 2002 with the interior. The original seat covers were replaced with factory style leather seat covers. New carpeting and heat insulation were installed along with the door panels, sill plates, dash components and a Kenwood radio. In 2005-06 the suspension and undercarriage were restored. This phase of the restoration included: rebuilt steering gears, trailing arms, bushings, shocks, A-arm bushings, power steering pump, sway bar bushings, ball joints and front coil springs. The gears and rear end were replaced along with the u-joints and the brake system was updated with a new master cylinder, slotted rotors and performance pads. In 2008 the Edelbrock 383 cubic inch V8 was installed. OE LT1 valve covers and air cleaner were used to give the engine a stock look. Ceramic coated headers and Flowmaster mufflers were added and the original automatic transmission was replaced with an M22 close ratio 4-speed manual transmission.
