Our Milwaukee location is proud to consign this 1937 Ford Stake Bed truck at Gateway Classic Cars. Ford has a long history in the truck market. Henry Ford is believed to be the first American auto maker to produce a civilian use pick up in 1917. The Ford Model TT was built on a studier frame and suspension than the Model T. This allowed the Model TT to become Americas workhorse with the ability to haul heavier payloads. Only 209 units sold in 1917, but by 1928 an astonishing 1.3 million Ford pickup had been sold. It was the Ford Model TT that solidified Ford's rightful place in truck history. In 1925 Ford introduced the Model T Roundabout with a 40h.p. engine and heaver leaf springs. Roundabout T was the first pickup to be “completely" assembled on the factory floor. Prior Model TT's came as cab only with the buyer building their own bed configurations. In 1932 Ford introduced the 80h.p. flathead V-8. The V-8 configuration was not new in 1932, however, Ford was the first to affordably mass market the V8 engine on a large scale. This was the go- to car for Bonnie and Clyde due the V-8s power to out run the police. Our 1937 Ford half ton Stake Bed is a great representation of Ford truck history. It is powered by a flat head V-8 with adjustable lifters, a 1941 coil with adapter and an electric gas pump. The generator has been converted to a twelve- volt system. In addition, the rear differential has been replaced with a 1973 Phaeton rear end. Two rear stop/ taillights and front and rear turn signals were added for safety. The front windshield also turns out for fantastic air flow. This 1937 Ford Stake Bed has been adorned with teardrop fenders, stainless steel bumpers, stainless steel hub caps and beautiful red paint. Whether you are looking for a car show gem or a trip to the hardware store this 1937 Ford Half Ton Stake Bed is ready for the task.
