Vinyl InteriorThe Second Generation (1971-1974) Plymouth Road Runner saw significant styling changes including a steeper windshield rake, hidden cowl and deeply inset grille and headlights. The overall length was increased, but the wheelbase shorter by an inch. The 383 “Road Runner†engine with an 8.7:1 compression ratio, hardened exhaust valve seats was rated at 300hp. This allowed the 383 Road Runner to receive a standard insurance rating and run on regular gas. Aerodynamics were much improved over the previous generation, resulting in much better high-speed handling. Richard Petty won the NASCAR Championship in 1971 and 1972 using Road Runner-base cars. This Bahama Yellow 1971 survivor sports 100% original sheet metal AND paint. The 383 cid V8 is not original, but period correct and mated to a 727-automatic transmission, 8 ¾†rear end and 3:55 gear ratio. The black vinyl interior is in impeccable condition. Settle in, turn the key and feel the rumble as the N96 Air-Grabber rises into position, beckoning for the open road.
