The first Willys Jeep was produced in 1940 for military use with Jeep manufacturing the first civilian use Willys in 1945. The success of Jeep opened up a whole new 4X4 recreational market that is still going strong today. This 1953 CJ series Willys was produced from 1948-1953. New features included a higher hood to accommodate a more powerful four-cylinder engine, improved ventilation, and a one-piece windshield. Body styles had expanded to also include pickups, wagons, and special purpose models.
This 1953 Willys 4X4 Jeep pickup is painted in a clearcoat tan. Accented with black wheels and just enough chrome to give this Jeep a polished look. One can see the extensiv restoration this Willys has received with attention given to every aspect of this build including suspension, Haywire wiring harness, 2.5 stainless exhaust, a 350 V-8 GM crate engine, three-speed manual transmission w/ a Warren overdrive unit, and a Dana 53 rear end with a 4.88 gear ratio. The interior consists of brown plaid cloth/vinyl TMI bucket seats accented with tan burlap trim panels and headliner. Added features include a GPS speedometer, electric gauges, Bluetooth radio, and tilt steering wheel.
