Gateway Classic Cars Milwaukee is excited to present this 1963 Chevrolet Nova SS convertible. The “Nova” nameplate was manufactured from 1962-1979, and 1985-1988. This first- generation Nova was produced from 1961-1965. Taking on many body styles including two-doors, four-doors, station wagons and convertibles. It was built on a semi-unibody cabin and trunk bolted to a framed front section. In 1963 the “SS” model was introduced with special features including a floor shifter, SS badging, unique instrument package, bucket seats, side molding, and SS wheel covers. Interestingly, a V-8 option was not available for the Nova until 1964. Eight-cylinder engine swaps by owners were commonplace, however.
This 1963 Nova SS convertible is painted in pearl white with ghost flames running up the hood and the side panels. American racing alloy wheels add to the sporty looks. The classic red convertible top and matching red vinyl interior are a nice accent to the white exterior. Bucket seats, floor shifter, after market oil and water gauges and a Kenwood AM/FM/cd radio mounted in the glovebox are great additional features. Under the hood is a 327 cubic inch V-8 attached to a three-speed automatic transmission. This 1963 Chevrolet Nova might have been a year early to the muscle car party, but ultimately grew up to be a nice contender with the addition of the 327 V-8.
