Gateway Classic cars Milwaukee is proud to present this 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T clone convertible. The Challenger nameplate began in 1969 as a 1970 model. Over the years, three generations of the Challenger have been produced on and off till the present. The first- generation Challenger was produced from 1970 -1974. Having a longer wheelbase, larger dimensions and a more luxurious interior resulted in the Challenger having its own niche market compared to its Plymouth Barracuda counterpart. Dodge sold the car with every engine size, trim levels, and options it had in its arsenal. Even though the Challenger struggled for sales at the time, today it is highly collectable in the muscle car market.
Our featured ’71 Challenger is finished in the now famous Mopar High Impact color Plum Crazy purple with black R/T strips, black vinyl seats and a black power assisted convertible top. The Mopar legend is powered by a 340 cubic inch V8 with a four-barrel carburetor all linked to a 3-speed automatic transmission. The transmission selector is wrapped around a woodgrain center console and has a “Slap Stick” T-handle. Other options on our featured Dodge ragtop are a woodgrain dash, power steering, power brakes, power windows and a modern JVC stereo with AM/FM/Bluetooth capabilities. The car sits on BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires wrapped around Mopar 3-piece rally rims. This car is a pleasure to drive in any weather with its upgraded “Vintage Air” air conditioning system.
