Gateway Classic Cars Milwaukee is excited to present this 1997 Land Rover Defender 90. The Land Rover is the second oldest manufacturer of four- wheel drive vehicles behind Jeep. The company was initially known as Rover and formally named Land Rover in 1978. The Land rover was originally produced as a utilitarian four-wheel drive off-roader evolving into the upscale luxury sport utility truck we recognize today. By 1994 Land Rover was ready to take on the United States 4X4 market with their completely revised American model called “The Defender 90”. The new Land Rover quickly took the American market by storm. Unfortunately, only 6,500 models were produced before its demise at the end of 1997 due to stricter US safety standards, making the Land Rover Defender 90 into a highly sought-after classic.
1997 was the last year of production for the Land Rover Defender 90. A larger V-8 engine, a ZF four-speed automatic transmission, and standard air conditioning were added features on the 1997 model. This truck is painted in Arles Blue with a gray vinyl interior. The interior consists of two front bucket seats with four jump seats in the rear. Added features include a front winch, factory rollbars, alloy wheels, pop up sunroof, AM/Fm/ cassette radio, air conditioning, power steering and power brakes.
