Gateway Classic Cars of Milwaukee is proud to present to you this 1969 International Harvester Scout 800A. The Scout always proved to be a rugged and reliable 4x4 in a time long before the SUV craze. International Harvester or IH has been building trucks since 1902 in Chicago. The Scout name is synonymous with being not only tough but a fun truck. The Scout name dates back to 1961 and was produced until 1980. When the IH Scout hit the market in the early 60's it's only competition was the Jeep. By the end of the decade Ford, Chevy and GMC saw the importance in the truck market and introduced their own adventure machines with the Bronco, Blazer and Jimmy respectively.
Our 69' IH Scout was produced from 1968-1970. Improvements to the Scout 800A included more creature comfort features, a slightly revised front end and a badge placement moved from the grill to the hood. A heavier rear axle with quitter Dana rear ends were also added for this era of the IH Scout. Under the hood you will find the durable 196 cu inline 4 cyl mill teamed up with a 3-Speed manual transmission. As expected, the truck equipped four wheel drive! The truck also features a white removable steel top over blue body. A roll bar, rear mounted spare tire, 30 inch raise white print letter tires and dual gas tanks. Our IH Scout was originally titled in California resulting as a very nice survivor.
Take a trip back in time when CCR ruled the radio, the Amazin' Mets were dominating the National League and Man first walked on the moon. This great little work horse is the perfect time machine to relive the fun and awe inspiring times of the 1960's.
