This 1931 Ford Roadster Pick Up is located in our Louisville KY showroom. This one of a kind, built from scratch roadster is definitely a unique piece. The build began with a custom built frame designed specifically to accommodate the engine, body, and bed combo. The suspension was the next piece of the puzzle with the front I beam dropped a total of 4" the stance of this little pick up is spot on. The use of transverse leaf springs both front and rear only add to the nostalgia feel. With the chassis complete and ready for the drive train a unique but solid motor was chosen. The 253 CID inline Pontiac motor was completely rebuilt from top to bottom with a number of performance enhancements added along the way. From the 3 angle valve job to the significantly larger cam this inline 6 is an absolute torque monster. Hardened valve seats allow the use of regular unleaded gas with no additives making it a breeze to fill up and go. With the motor installed and ready to go the next decision was transmission. Wanting to have the ability to actually drive this beauty an overdrive transmission was selected. The 200-4R was widely used by GM in the early to mid 80's and is basically the precursor to the classic 700r4. With a transmission cooler incorporated into the bottom of the engine radiator this set up is designed to be extremely reliable. The rear end was extensively modified and now holds F1 bearings as well as 9" slide in axles completing one of the coolest drive train set ups I have seen. Now that the drive train and chassis were complete the all steel Brookville Roadster body and shortened bed were painted a deep GM stock color called woodland green. The steel wheels were painted Chrysler Light Yellow giving it a great contrast. With the custom fabric convertible top done in a material imported from Germany it is sure to last and look good for a long time to come. Options on this 1931 Ford Roadster Pick Up include; Tilt Wheel, Vinyl and Cloth Interior, Seat Belts, Hub Caps, and Radial Tires.
