2001 Ford Mustang

This 2001 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is available in our Louisville KY showroom. In 2000 Ford suffered a slight set back to their flagship Mustang known as the SVT Cobra. Ford replaced the intake manifold and computer components as well as the entire exhaust from the catalytic to the tailpipes in order to achieve a "true" 320 hp at the crankshaft. Because of this blunder, the 320 hp 2000 SVT Cobra was pulled from production to return in 2001 again rated at 320 hp. This Performance Red SVT Cobra has come a long way since that original 320 hp. Approximately 1 year after its purchase, the owner decided it needed just a little more. This desire for more horsepower lead to a few discussions with Kenny Brown Performance for a few upgrades. The decision was made to upgrade this snake to a Cobra S by Kenny Brown. Most notable in this conversion, is the addition of a Vortech Supercharger to the 4.6 4 valve V-8, allowing the car to produce 420 hp. Along with the additional hp, Kenny Brown’s Extreme Subframe System is added for improved handling. Documentation of this $18000 upgrade is included with the purchase of this low mileage (only 12K) SVT Cobra. The owner was very pleased with the results, but then a few years later, the itch for more hp raised its head again. This time the call was put into Lidio lacobelli at Alternativeauto.com. A new big bore short block was installed and the heads were ported and polished. The Vortech Supercharger was upgraded to an S trim with 17-18 psi of boost available. To handle the expected 690 hp, the 5-speed manual 3650 transmission was upgraded by Promotion Performance Products. To give this beast a little extra acceleration, a set of 4.10 gears have been added to the rear. Currently this predecessor to the Terminator Cobra has been tuned for a conservative 590 hp by Blankenship Tuning of Shelbyville Ky. The owner decided that right around 600 on 93 octane pump gas is good enough for now, but the SVT Cobra can be retuned for 700 hp if desired. Inside this beautiful street machine, the leather/suede interior shows no real sign of wear, which you would expect of a car with only a little over 12000 miles on the odometer.
