This 1963 Corvette Convertible is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. 1963 was the beginning of what most consider the golden era of America's supercar. The totally redesigned 1963 Corvette was new from the ground up. It even had a catchy new name, Stingray, named after the groundbreaking concept car that Zora Duntov had introduced just a year earlier the ‘63 Corvette would take many of its styling cues from. The biggest mechanical redesign was the rear end. Only because Duntov convinced GM that it would sell 30000 cars the new Corvette would sport an independent rear suspension. This was absolutely groundbreaking in 1963. Affordable performance was always what the Corvette represented and this 63 is a perfect example of that. Sporting number 848 off the assembly line this is one of the earliest examples you will find. Keeping true to the originality this white beauty maintains the numbers matching 250 HP 327 CID motor which runs very strong may I add. The decision was made to take the original 3 speed out and install a 4 speed in order to give the car better highway manners. The car can get on the highway and run at 70 to 75 now without sounding like you're going to blow up the motor. In November of 2014 the body of the car went through a complete restoration and looks excellent with razor straight lines it is most likely better than when it left the factory. Let's face it the Sixties are not known because of their quality control. While the car is meant to have the top down which explains why the top is designed to fit under the back hatch totally concealed as if the car is a roadster. Just in case you do get stuck out in the weather the black vinyl top is in good condition and compliments the white body nicely when in use. You even have the option to turn the car into a true coupe with the hardtop taking very little time to throw on and being made out of fiberglass is actually very light. The interior of the 63 is the original interior that came in the car and considering it is 50 + years old it has held up well. There are no tears in the vinyl and the seats still have some spring in them. If you are looking for a first year C2 that will give you tons of enjoyment without breaking the pocket book ,or if you want a great car that with a little bit of work could be an excellent show car look no further. Regardless a great looking, solid driving, numbers matching 63 convertible Corvette, with a serial of 848 for under $50000 sounds like a deal to me. Options on this 1963 Corvette Convertible include, Vinyl Interior, Manual Convertible Top, Removable Hardtop, Hubcaps, AM/FM/Cassette, and Radial Tires.
