The 1971 Chevrolet Corvette LS5 is located in our Louisville KY showroom. Many will consider 1971 the beginning the end for the horsepower wars. With unleaded gas becoming the standard and smog regulation's tightening, there were an increasing number of hurdles for the big three to jump through. This would also explain the reason that other than the amber parking lenses the 71 Vette was well a 70 Vette with amber parking lenses. Chevy had their engineers working on how they were going to meet the demands of Uncle Sam and till get the muscle that Corvette was known for. Enter the LS5 454 Big Block. Introduced in 1970 it was instant success. Though the 71 model was down to only 365 ponies it was still turning out a tire boiling 500 plus ft-lbs of torque. This 71 maintains its original LS5 under the hood and runs absolutely astounding. With the simple turn of the key the big block comes alive and you can tell you have opened up a completely different animal than the other run of the mill stingrays. Not only is the LS5 a much more sought after option it is just, how should I say it, well it’s just way cooler. From the exhaust not coming out of the built in dual exhaust to that super coo; stinger hood it’s all just cooler. Add to this the fact that this 71 is a factory AC car and the collectability just went up three notches. The believed to be original Mulsanne Blue paint is in fair condition with some signs of aging but only when within five feet of the car. AS with the engine the original turbo 400 transmission still transfers he power to the rear wheels. Take the T tops off and you will be ready to cruise on that next spring day. They can even be stored in the original vinyl bags in the storage compartment just in Case the sunshine doesn’t last as long as it should. You can even pop out the back glass and store it in the hidden compartment to give you the closest feeling to a convertible you can get. The interior is as nice as the rest of the car is original and in good condition with the two-tone blue complimenting the exterior. The tilt telescoping wheel gives you a ton of options and allows taller as well as shorter people enjoy the ride of this classic beast. If you are looking for great addition to the collection or something to have a blast driving down that back country road look no further. Options include AC, AM/FM, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Tilt/ Telescopic Wheel, Vinyl Interior, and Rally Wheels wrapped in Radial Tires.
