Competing with the other luxury cars at the time including GM’s Cadillac and Chrysler’s Imperial brand, the new Continental was not intended to be the largest nor the most powerful automobile; rather, the most luxurious and elegant American car available, designed to recapture the spirit of the great classics of the prewar period. What emerged was something quite unlike other American cars of the period. While other makes experimented with flamboyant chrome-laden styling, the Continental Mark II was almost European in its simplicity of line and understated grace. The 1956 Lincoln Continental is a great example of these cars from the 50’s. Restored by the previous owner this car was then put into storage for approximately 20 years. The current owner has owned for approximately 5-6 years and has only had to do general maintenance to this beautiful piece of history. Looking under the hood of this stylish luxury car, you will see the 368 CID V-8 engine. The odometer only shows a little over 62000 miles, while the owner cannot verify the mileage as actual; the overall condition of the car indicates that this is low mileage well cared for car.
