1967 Ford Mustang

This stunning 1967 Ford Mustang “S” code GTA is for sale in our Louisville Showroom. Feeling pressure from their competition, Ford needed to make the Mustang more powerful so it could keep up with its competitors. The answer came in the form of a larger car. The increased body size allowed Ford to put their first big-block engine in a Mustang. This optional 390-cubic-inch 6.4L V-8 motor was capable of producing an impressive 320 hp. As such, Ford was clearly able to keep up with the big dogs on the road. This particular 1967 Mustang in 1980 by the current owner. For a few after the purchase this jewel was campaigned at the local dragstrip, where the original 390 V8 met its demise. The Mustang continue to race for a bit longer with a replacement 428 V8. This beauty was then retired from the dragstrip. After sitting in storage, the decision was then made to perform a full on restoration. The owner searched for a period correct 390 to begin the process. The original heads, intake, exhaust manifolds, and carburetor were refurbished and used. The original C6 automatic and Ford 9 inch rear end with 3.25 gears have been restored. The owner has his own body and metal shop and he took car body panels. When came time to paint the Mustang, it was sent to Spillman Restoration for the work. The color “Night Mist Blue” is the original color but it has been upgraded to a basecoat/clearcoat system. The decision paid off as the car been a show winner over the last 3 years. The interior is all new as well and the color is correct. A couple of changes were made this Mustang. They all to the overall aesthetic look of the car. The fiberglass hood is a Shelby GT500 piece and it was needed for when the Mustang was sporting the 428 with dual 4-barrel carburetors. The hood looks great on this Mustang, so the owner kept it when the restoration was completed. Later model Magnum 500 wheels are also used over the standard ’67 Factory Rally wheels. Both changes only add to the overall look of this car. The front windshield and vent wing glass are new. The door glass and rear window glass are original to the car and are still in excellent condition. These S code Mustangs are highly sought after for both collectability and an investment.
