In 1972 even Oldsmobile made it so you could have your own “tribute” 442 as this is the year they made the “442” just an option package coded W-29 and available on the Cutlass S body. For $120 you received emblems, H.D. suspension, with front and rear sway bars and blacked out grille and headlight bezels. You also got a special fiberglass hood with louvers and stripes. In fact you could get very nice upgraded options as standard equipment on a Cutlass such as SSII wheels and duel exhaust which were not standard on a 442. This is the best of all worlds – A beautifully well done 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass S “442” with the ever coveted 455 cubic inch big block and Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Under the fiberglass Ram Air hood is a healthy 455 CID V8. The engine was rebuilt in 2015, so it has a long life ahead of it with many burnouts to do! A new Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor and aluminum intake has been added to insure this beastly V8 get plenty of fuel and air to do it work. Keeping the 455 cool is no sweat with the addition of a new radiator. This mighty V8 is backed by a Turbo Hydramatic 400 that has also been gone through and is up to the task of handling the horsepower and torque of this bad lad V8. New u joints have also been installed, so the drive shaft will stay in place during spirited stints behind the wheel. Getting this 442 to stop safely is a new brake system comprised of a power brake booster, new wheel cylinders and drum brakes. . The Porcelain White shines elegantly and is complimented well with the black stripe running bumper to bumper hugging each wheel well along the way. You can’t miss the very cool unmistakable 442 spoiler that screams “yeah man!” Chrome, trim and emblems meet all expectations as well as the rims and tires which are new. . Black interior with seating for 6 allows for some fun trips for ice cream, the lake or beach and cruise night. A set of gauges have been added under the dash to keep track of the oil pressure, water temperature and voltage of this 442. An aftermarket tachometer has been fitted in the dash and looks like it could have been a factory option.
