This 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The Mustang debuted as a compact sports car powered by a 170 six cylinder with a pair of V8 options. Most people opted for the classic two door coupe which led sales 5 to 1. The convertible however was highly sought after but with the additional $237 cost which was an additional 10% it put the convertible just out of reach from the targeted buyers. Now those convertibles have become an American icon with a red 65 convertible being one of the most sought after cars ever made. This 65 has gone through an extensive amount of work to bring it to its current state. Starting with a new set of rear quarters the body and fitment of panels is very good for a 65 Mustang. Naturally a set of floor pans were welded in making the body itself solid and sound. The original green paint was just not going to cut it so the decision made to go with the iconic red that you see now. The polished aftermarket wheels were a great addition and finish off the exterior nicely. The next step was going to be interior. I mean you can't really put that old interior back in a freshly painted car. The black pony interior is in excellent shape and really makes that red paint pop. The black powered top is in great shape with the motor working as it should. Under the hood the 289 was rebuilt and bored .030 over to give it just a little more displacement. The Edelbrock carb feeds the right amount fuel with the MSD ignition increasing performance and reliability. The dual exhaust has the perfect note and gives this pony the right attitude. With the popularity of these cars growing everyday this highly optioned convertible is sure to make those long summer days much more enjoyable.
