When introduced, the Chevelle was intended to compete with the Fairlane, and was supposed to reflect a car similar in size to the Classic Tri-Five of the decade prior. They would go down as being some of the most memorable cars of our time. This bad boy features a fire-breathing 375 HP 396 CID V8, which is backed by a 4-speed manual. The 396 features a Holley 4BBL carb, aluminum intake, and headers to funnel the spent fossils into its dual exhaust system, which has that classic big block muscle car sound we all love. The big 396 sends its twist out back to a limited-slip (Posi-trac) GM 12-bolt rear end with 3.73:1 gears, which is a very nice ratio for both acceleration and cruising. This 1966 Chevelle SS for sale has plenty of low-end torque for getting away at those stop lights, and plenty of power for passing most mere excuses for cars. Overall, except for the slotted and drilled front brake rotors and the dual gauge cluster under the dash, everything looks "factory", which is very cool indeed! Speaking of cool, this SS 396 Chevelle is a factory A/C car, although the system could probably use a charge to get it back to the "ice cold" air that GM A/C systems were known for. This '66 Chevelle is riding classic BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires, which wrap its original style Rallye wheels with turbine center caps and beauty rings. Air shocks out back help provide for either additional load carrying capability when you've put that fourth golf bag in the trunk next to your cooler, or for when you just want to adjust the rake of the stance. The gorgeous red paint looks great and is just the right color for such a well-executed vintage Chevelle. Inside, the black interior is in very good condition, with synthetic leather front buckets and rear bench looking virtually unused. The headliner and carpet are in very good shape, so this beast is ready to win its next car show.
