Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is excited to offer this awesome Richard Petty (B3) Blue 1972 Dodge Charger! Since its current owner purchased it almost a decade ago, he has turned it from being an occasional use "fun classic car" into one that is capable of being used regularly. Its owner's plan for the upgrade project was to make it as close as possible to original; but make it better in ways that didn't scream "not original"...many (if not most) of the exterior badging and trim has been replaced with correct Mopar items, as well as the manufacturer decals (jacking instructions/emissions control/tire pressure/air cleaner/refrigerant/antifreeze/and air temp decals are all NOS items). In addition, the already potent (AND original) 340 CID V8 has been completely rebuilt, and now features 1969 340 'J' heads (closed chamber, for 10.5:1 compression), the block has been completely machined and reworked with new pistons, crank, cam, and valvetrain. It has a new Edelbrock fuel pump, oil pump, and a windage tray inside its new oil pan. The valve covers are also new, and it has a new Edelbrock carb. Other new under-hood parts include timing chain cover, Powermaster starter, Powermaster 85 amp alternator, Summit Racing electronic distributor, engine wiring harness, front light wiring harness, dual prong ballast resistor terminal, Mopar vintage logo reproduction ignition coil, ignition ballast resistor for electronic ignition, Mopar Performance ECU good to 8,000 RPM, date-coded Mopar fuel filter, high-flow water pump, new power steering pump, and new Griffin 4-core radiator. It also has a new speedometer cable and 32 tooth gear, and new 1971-74 Mopar side mirrors, and a new rear deck spoiler from Restorer's Choice. The braking system has been thoroughly gone through and Wilwood braking upgrades have been installed. It now sports Dynalite Big Brakes with slotted and drilled rotors up front, with red powder-coated 4-piston calipers. Out back are Pro Series slotted/drilled rotors, and black powder-coated 4-piston calipers. Its new braided stainless brake lines, new Wilwood tandem master cylinder and proportioning valve all help improve its braking performance. This Charger now runs and drives better than it ever did when it was new! But that's not all, as the interior has also seen subtle, yet meaningful improvements. From its cold factory air conditioning to its Legendary Auto Interiors B-Body front bucket seats, to the upgraded 6"x9" speakers, the new steering wheel, to the many other small touches on interior trim replacements, etc., this '72 Charger feels very fresh. Underneath, the suspension has been enhanced with 1966-72 B-Body Extra Heavy-Duty Super Stock Leaf Springs, the body has been reinforced with subframe connectors, and a new fuel tank (and all new fuel lines) have been installed. Additional features and options on this 1972 Dodge Charger include Air Conditioning, AM Radio, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Raised White Letter Radial Tires, Rally Wheels, Seat Belts, Spare Tire and Jack, and Vinyl Interior. This '72 Charger is ready to rock, so don't miss out on it!
