1967 Chevrolet Chevelle

Now for sale in our Houston showroom is this Ermine White 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396. This 138 series Chevelle SS has a 396 CID V8 and GM TH400 3-speed automatic. The big 396 sends its twist out back to a GM 12-bolt rear end. Atop the 396 is a Weiand Street Warrior aluminum intake manifold and Holley 4BBL carb, which help this Chevy Rat Motor breathe better than stock, making plenty of torque for launching, and plenty of power for passing those Prius drivers. Cast iron exhaust manifolds funnel the spent gases into the dual exhaust and help provide a nice muscle sound, albeit more subtly than if it had headers. A thoughtful add was the inclusion of a big aluminum radiator to help keep things running cool.

Speaking of cool, this SS 396 Chevelle comes with the bonus of Vintage Air A/C, which is a big plus for driving around when it's hot outside, or when it's super humid and one needs dehumidified air to keep the windows from fogging. The driver-quality Ermine White paint is in decent shape, with only minor discoloration and a few surface bubbles on the hood; but according to its owner, the car is sporting its 52-year old original sheet metal. This car has good bones for a frame-off restoration, that's for sure. A relatively fresh set of 235/50-15 Goodyear Eagle RH Radial tires are wrapped around 15" Rallye wheels at each corner, making this Chevelle SS handle and ride better than it ever could have on its original bias ply tires. Front disc/rear drum brakes help bring this vintage muscle car to a smooth stop.

Inside, the black interior is in good condition, with cloth front buckets and rear bench having been redone to a nicer cloth than anything GM ever put out in 1967. A custom-tailored nacelle above the center console houses a Kenwood AM/FM/CD/MP3 Radio and an AutoMeter AutoGauge 3-gauge cluster, and it looks almost original. An Autometer AutoGauge tach completes the gauge setup.
