The Hurst/Olds was the result of cooperation between Oldsmobile and Hurst Performance to create a high-performance variation of the Cutlass 442. The 1979 was the first Hurst/Olds that did not offer a 455 engine. Instead, the 1979 model was the only G-body to feature a Chevrolet 350 CID V8 in 1979. The 1979 Hurst/Olds was also equipped with Hurt’s Dual Gate shifter, also known as the “His and Her’s†or “Street/Strip†shifter. On the driver’s side there was the standard automatic, or “Streetâ€, shift pattern. However, on the passenger side was the “Strip†pattern boasting an adjustable, positive-latching shift gate, with neutral lockout. The Dual Gate Shifter controlled an M-38 Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 transmission, which routed power to a 10-bolt axle with 2.73:1 gears. This 1979 Hurst Olds is instantly identifiable by its two-tone gold and white paint scheme. The wheels and grille are also painted gold to match. This vehicle also features air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, power locks, power seats, power windows, a tilt wheel, and a cloth interior.
