Wire WheelsFor sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is this superb 1927 Ford Model T Pickup. The first vehicle for the masses, the Ford Model T was produced from 1908 all the way to 1927. In a time when machinery of any kind was scarce, the model T changed the face of American industrialization. Many Model T’s were converted for use as tractors and other farm equipment, and it was not uncommon to see a Model T with one of its rear wheels taken off and a belt fitted to the rear to drive conveyor belts, water pumps, or to just generate electricity. However, what the Model T is most known for is the revolution in the assembly line process that its demand inspired. By 1914, Henry Ford has streamlined the production process that a completed Model T was rolling off the assembly line every 93 minutes.
This particular example falls into what is known as the T5, or the “high hood†body style of the Model T. It has been completely rebuilt. The engine is a 1970’s 2.0L Ford 4 cylinder that has been completely rebuilt, and now has 1,500 miles on it. To improve drivability, a 3 speed automatic transmission was fitted, allowing this Model T truck to even reach modern highway speeds, while the disc brakes mounted up front make sure it will slow back down to a stop. It has been fitted with a new radiator and an electric fan to ensure that everything stays cool under the hood. The bed has been handmade from beautifully stained wood, and a trap door against the cab hides the battery. When’s the last time you saw a convertible truck? The steering column has been replaced with a tilting chrome unit, the turned aluminum dash features new Sunpro gauges, and there is new carpet all throughout.
